SUV sales have increased incrementally since 3008 was first launched in 2009 and the C-segment in particular is booming.

PEUGEOT'S 3008 SUV not only embodies ownership values but also meets the desire for personal expression and the need for escapism while enjoying new experiences.Today's drivers want their driving experiences enriched by emotions and that starts with a welcoming cabin that can be personalised to be as relaxing as the family home. In other words, they desire a modern luxury SUV.

Sadly, the experience of driving an SUV rarely lives up to the expectation so the challenge facing PEUGEOT was to incorporate all the characteristics of the segment while delivering a modern, sleek and intelligent package.

With the new 3008 SUV, PEUGEOT has moved itself above the C-segment SUV mainstream, a move confirmed first and foremost by the standard fitting of the new PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®.

Breathtaking interior design
Getting into the new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV is like entering a surprisingly futuristic world that oozes quality. The futuristic dashboard, the latest generation of PEUGEOT'S i-Cockpit®, immediately catches the eye.

A highly technological design, it is a concept that has rewritten the book on the car cockpit by concentrating all the main operating systems in front of the driver in a defined, high-tech niche.

The steering wheel is even more compact and has been redesigned with pronounced flat sections top and bottom, giving it a more natural grip while affording the driver maximum visibility of the futuristic cockpit. It also enhances legroom for easy entry and exit.

The close attention paid to the interior's material choices is also noticeable with the use of quality leather, chrome inserts and gloss black trims which bring a high level of perceived quality and attractiveness.

The large 8.0-inch touch-screen in the centre of the dashboard resembles a contemporary tablet and it is positioned above six elegant and easily accessible piano key-style toggle switches which access the cabin's main control functions: radio, climate-control air-conditioning, navigation, the vehicles' parameters, telephone and mobile applications.

The main instrument panel has an ergonomic 'head-up' design utilising a high-resolution 12.3-inch TFT screen which can be completely personalised using five different display modes (four in Active and base Allure-no driving mode), all controlled from a steering wheel-mounted knob and bringing together everything drivers need in their immediate field of view.

'Personal' mode, for example, displays a wide choice of information such as navigation instructions and route information, driver aids, engine parameters and trip computer with the visual impact of each setting highlighted by a series of animations and transitions.

Because pleasure is still one of PEUGEOT's core values, i-Cockpit® pushes the sensory boundaries even further and simply pressing a special switch next to the main toggle switches lets the new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV effectively call up its own 'Master of Ceremonies' to enhance the driving experience.

Known as i-Cockpit® Amplify, this system adds to almost all the primary senses:

Sight: by varying the brightness of the ambient lighting and the colour of the screens;
Hearing: through the musical graphic equaliser settings;
Touch: via the multipoint massage 'fingers' embedded in the seats (with five program choices) and;
Smell: via a fragrance diffuser.

As in the PEUGEOT 308, sight, touch and hearing can be enhanced further through the features offered by the Driver Sport Pack.
Those travelling in PEUGEOT'S 3008 SUV can further enhance the experience by choosing between two distinct themes, 'Boost' and 'Relax'.

Boost gives a dynamic driving style while Relax is for gentler times and the two themes are entirely configurable so that driver and passengers can exceed the limits of pleasure, making travelling in 3008 SUV a truly unique and unforgettable experience.

That experience is enhanced by the interior's richness which only highlights the cabin's sense of quality and modernity. Material choices are inspired and their appearance uncompromising with leather, touches of brushed chrome and carbon or cloth decoration.

Textiles inspired by home designs are used for the door insert panel, headlining, windscreen pillars and even some less commonly-used places, such as the dashboard inlay to maximise modernity while bringing a feeling of warmth.

Inspired exterior design
New PEUGEOT 3008's interior design is unique, successful and rich and with on-board technology that promises much. This feeling carries over to the exterior and while at first glance the new PEUGEOT 3008's strength of character is striking, the effect is absolutely clear: this is an SUV.

To that end the new PEUGEOT 3008 has adopted in its silhouette all the characteristics necessary for this type of vehicle with a proudly vertical front end, a long and flat bonnet,  high waist line, protective areas for the bodywork (bumper skirts, wheel arches and lower doors), large wheels, raised ground clearance and shaped roof bars.

Importantly, the new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV has maintained its design harmony and sense of proportion while incorporating these features, its overall shape inspired by the boundless creativity of its designers.

The vertical front end brings a sense of power, giving off feelings of strength through clear, bold and balanced lines defined by a wide, chrome-trimmed grille which sets the tone.

The Peugeot Lion emblem takes pride of place at the grille's centre and the feline theme carries through to the piercing stare provided by the narrow halogen headlamps which are standard on Active and Allure variants. That look becomes sharper with the full LED headlamps that are standard on GT Line and GT variants.

Numerous air intakes on the front of the 3008 SUV also serve to increase the overall character and self-assurance of the car, making it a true PEUGEOT.

Styling lines starting at the grille and leading back along the long, flat bonnet to the base of the windscreen enhance the 3008 SUV's sense of strength, as does a windscreen that is more upright in its stance and positioned behind the front axle line.

The bonnet is also flanked by chrome inserts that sweep back from the headlamps towards the windscreen. A nod to the HX1 concept car, this body-side design language lends a dynamic feel to the front end and further increases the car's feeling of modernity.

The raised waistline highlights the marked increase in the sheet metal-to-glass ratio and helps accentuate the elegance and fluidity of the line produced by a slimmer profile. The bonnet's upper surface flows into a crease that both incorporates the door handles and stretches out the vehicle's profile lines.

The superb styling gives 3008 SUV proportions which look less heavy and more compact than the majority of its competitors, a feat achieved by using a gloss black roof (Available on request  for Active and Allure, standard on GT Line and GT) and standard-fit stainless steel trims stretching to the rear spoiler.

This 'Black Diamond' roof is a key styling feature of PEUGEOT 3008 SUV and increases its already-strong personality, dynamism, modernity and status.

The protection around the vehicle, its large wheels and roof bars have been integrated in to the overall design in a mixture of character and sophistication, resulting in a creative take that is not only modern but futuristic, at the same time avoiding any styling compromises.

That 'no compromise' feel carries through to the rear with a continuation of clear and very modern design. Below the inclined rear window, for example, a gloss black band incorporates the opalescent LED tail lamps which feature the three essential 'claw marks' that make the PEUGEOT visual signature so clearly identifiable night and day.

Whatever angle it is approached from, the new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV exudes feelings of top-quality execution and high levels of quality with a multitude of factors, such as fine gap tolerance, tight panel fit, touches of chrome cleverly distributed all around the vehicle and two-tone bodywork all contributing to this overall impression.

It is attractive, well planned and tasteful, styling that not only gives it 'the look' but also makes PEUGEOT 3008 SUV the most fashionable vehicle of its kind on the market.

A jubilant driving experience …
Peugeot's reputation for driving experience is already well established thanks to the skill of the company's development engineers who repeatedly produce the most satisfying vehicles to drive, whatever their size.

In the case of an SUV, the challenge is increased because of changed design parameters that include the raised ride height, higher driving position and the higher centre of gravity. In this class of vehicle, styling choices are often made to the detriment of driveability.

In the case of the PEUGEOT 3008 SUV though, drivers will feel the magic from the outset courtesy of its impeccable roadholding, precise steering, quality ride and overall feeling of agility and safety.

This is the overall result from the blend of traditional experience and the development and use of the most efficient and modern technology.

Thanks to its new EMP2 platform and its renowned dynamic qualities, the new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV strikes a perfect balance between comfort and roadholding that has been previously unknown in C-segment SUVs.

Suspension has been tuned to match each drivetrain, achieving a ride quality that both suits the individual model and fits the reputation of 'The Lion Brand'. It also contributes to careful weight reduction which lowers fuel consumption while improving passive safety and overall performance.

The new PEUGEOT 3008 is a true SUV and like any true SUV it needs to have genuine off-road capabilities, achieved in this instance by the use of Advanced Grip Control.

This enhanced traction system is optimised by a traction control system with five grip levels - Normal, Snow, Mud, Sand and ESP OFF - controlled from a centre console-mounted knob. And vehicle-specific 18-inch M+S (Mud & Snow) tyres.

It also has a new descent-assist function called Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC) which gives drivers perfect and completely safe control over the vehicle on steep slopes. Controlled by a button on the centre console, the system is able to keep the vehicle to an impressively low 3km/h operating speed, maximising driver control and enhancing overall vehicle safety in tough situations.

Even the most mundane trips are enriched because this new PEUGEOT is a true first class travel experience aided by excellent sound-insulation and numerous comfort features, most of which are above normal market levels including body-hugging seats (with the option of an eight-pocket pneumatic massage system) and a large panoramic sunroof fitted with a blind and illuminated rails.

… supported by an arsenal of driver aids…
PEUGEOT'S 3008 SUV is a joy to drive, the feeling amplified by the compact steering wheel and dynamic abilities which allow drivers to make the most of this SUV, especially with the help of its numerous driving aids.

This latest generation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) minimise driving hazards with an arsenal of safety features and include:

  • Active Safety Brake and Distance Alert;
  • Active lane departure warning;
  • Driver attention warning;
  • Automatic adaptive headlamp main beam;
  • Speed limit sign recognition and recommendation;
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop function;
  • Active blind-spot monitoring.

City driving is made easier by Visio Park (giving full 360-degree vision) and the latest generation of Park Assist.

… and permanent connectivity
The new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV has been designed to move with the times so meets the need to stay connected at the wheel by being able to navigate calmly and peacefully thanks to features like Mirror Screen, smartphone induction charging (for equipment compatible with the Qi standard) and 3D navigation.

The 3D navigation not only shows maps and chosen drive routes but also displays images of buildings and monuments and also takes into account terrain contours. With a simple touch of a steering wheel-mounted knob the image can be copied from the touch screen to the digital instrument unit for easier viewing.

The Mirror Screen function allows a Smartphone screen to be reproduced on the touch-screen to make best use of its applications. Mirror Screen is compatible with the MirrorLink protocols used for Android smartphones, Android Auto and Apple CarPlayTM (iPhone 5 onwards).

A simple touch of a button on the steering wheel gives access to a remote voice recognition function through the smartphone (Android S-Voice and Apple Siri), opening-up new possibilities for drivers by letting them make calls, choose music, read and send text messages and get route information in complete safety and without the need to look away from the road.

All this information is served up to the driver in the simplest and most intuitive way possible, the interfaces provided by the new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV allow these functions to be used safely and in peace.

Design intelligence for practical use
Design intelligence does not end with providing the best comfort and safety features available and to encourage its occupants to share unforgettable moments in it the new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV has to ensure maximum versatility.

The wide-ranging modularity and clever features have been carefully planned to meet all expectations and handle all situations. An unusual load? Swallowed-up courtesy of the 2/3-1/3 split-folding 'Magic Flat' rear seat which gives a fully-flat load area floor.

An innovative two-position floor in the load area not only helps keep items separated but also makes for easy loading and makes for easy use of the boot space.

For really long loads the fold-flat front passenger seat gives a load-space up to three metres long and on all versions, the rear seat's centre armrest is fitted with a ski-flap to handle long thin items.

Add to this clever versatility a hands-free, motorised tailgate which, with a simple movement of the foot beneath the rear bumper, opens or closes. In fact, the ingenuity of the new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV lends itself to all manner of configurations.

The vehicle also benefits from an optimised architecture which makes it a perfect fit for size in its segment without compromising interior space which is among the roomiest in the business.

Boot capacity has been increased compared to the previous generation and as well as a minimum 520-litre capacity it also has one of the lowest loading heights in its class.

This new architecture and use of the new EMP2 platform, coupled with optimisation of the weight/volume/equipment ratio at all levels, brings an average weight loss of 100kg over the previous generation. Australian 3008 SUV variants start at 1375kg for petrol-engined cars and 1540kg for diesel engine models.

An engine range which is powerful…and thrifty!
While the work that has gone into vehicle architecture and weight reduction has been a major factor in the never-ending search for lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions they have not been the only things that have helped lower the numbers.

Aerodynamic design and optimised external dimensions have helped achieve an excellent 0.76m2 CxA on some variants and the use of Ultra-Low Rolling Resistance (ULRR) tyres in 17-inch and 18-inch sizes (or a bigger 19-inch diameter wheel for 3008 GT SUVs running the optional 235/50 R19) have also contributed to overall efficiency.

And regardless of the engine choice, petrol or diesel, the new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV benefits from a range of Euro6.1 engines which are powerful yet frugal, with ultra-low fuel consumption figures.

For Australia, the 3008 SUV will be available with the 1.6 litre THP 165 petrol engine and the 2.0 litre BlueHDi diesel engine with Stop & Start technology. Both engines are combined with the EAT6 six-speed automatic transmission.

The THP 165 engine develops 121 kilowatts of power at 6000rpm, 240 Newton metres of torque at 1400rpm and emits 156g/km of CO2.

The BlueHDI diesel engine develops 133 kilowatts at 3750rpm, 400 Newton metres at 2000rpm and emits 124g/km of CO2.

Made in France
The new PEUGEOT 3008 is produced in the Sochaux plant. Engines are built in and supplied from the Trémery and Douvrin factories, all ensuring the PEUGEOT 3008 SUV proudly carries the "Origine France Garantie" label.

The new PEUGEOT 3008 in detail

1 - Optimised architecture

The new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV is not only attractive to look at, it is also well thought-out with performance and features that are in line with the best in the segment and up to the reputation of the brand.

At 4.45m in overall length it is positioned at the heart of the segment. It is 8cm longer than the previous generation and this extra length has gone into the wheelbase (and the passenger compartment) which, at 2,675 mm, has increased by 62mm over the old 3008, making it one of the longest on the market. Width stays at 1.84m but the interior space has been enhanced. Similarly, the height of the new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV has been kept to 1.62m (including the roof bars), a key factor in a remarkable aerodynamic performance while still giving occupants excellent headroom.

With its large wheels and 22cm ground clearance it is an imposing vehicle.

Inside, all key passenger dimensions are improved over the previous generation:

  • Rear legroom +24mm
  • Front elbow room: +17mm
  • Rear elbow room: +4mm
  • Rear headroom: +36mm (steel roof)

Similarly, boot capacity has greatly increased. With 520 litres (VDA 210) under the luggage cover it is almost 90 litres bigger than that of the previous generation (432 litres VDA). Its versatility allows the load capacity to be increased to 1580 litres.

Optimised architecture is accompanied by a step-change in weight with an average of 100kg saved over the previous generation. To achieve this, each component and manufacturing process has been subjected to a scrupulous design cycle leading to impressive weight savings in the name of fuel consumption, passive safety and dynamic performance of the vehicle.

The key features are:

  • VHSS and UHSS steels (Very High Strength Steel and Ultra High Strength Steel)
  • Thermoplastic boot floor and tailgate
  • Front mudguards, front suspension arms and rear seat frames in aluminium
  • Reduced engine noise levels allow a reduction in sound-deadening materials.

2- The new PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®: sensation amplifier!

The new PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® is a step forward in all areas. Higher quality visually, more technical in its design, better connected, more intuitive to use and able to be personalised.

It can also be accompanied by the optional i-Cockpit® Amplify which arouses almost all the senses at the touch of a button on the central console:

  • Sight: vary the brightness of the lighting and select the colour themes of the screens;
  • Hearing: via the musical equaliser and sound settings;
  • Touch: through the multi-point massage system embedded in the driver's seat;
  • Smell: via a fragrance diffuser.

Occupants get the immediate choice of two themes, 'Boost', for a dynamic driving style and 'Relax' for gentler driving experience. These two themes are entirely configurable so driver and passengers exceed the limits of pleasure, making travel unique and unforgettable.

High quality fragrances are offered for i-Cockpit® Amplify, developed with Scentys and Antoine Lie, an internationally renowned perfumer, for a top-of-the-range sensory experience.

There are three fragrances on offer, each with its own characteristics. 'Cosmic Cuir' is a vibrant and sensual fragrance while 'Aerodrive', the default setting for the 'Boost' atmosphere, is a lively and stimulating fragrance. The third scent is called 'Harmony Wood' and is an authentic and relaxing fragrance  which is the default setting for the 'Relax' atmosphere. There are three intensity settings available.

Moreover, as in the PEUGEOT 308, sight, touch and hearing can further benefit from the stunning features of the Driver Sport Pack, which gives:

  • firmer and more responsive power steering;
  • more responsive throttle mapping;
  • enhanced engine and gearbox response for automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle-shifters;
  • amplified engine sounds with a sporty note (via a digital amplifier which enhances the sound in the cabin);
  • enhanced colour display on the instrument and touch screens and an additional vehicle dynamics information display on the instrument unit showing power output, boost pressure and longitudinal and lateral g-forces.

3 - Numerous state-of-the-art driver aids

Numerous electronic aids help new PEUGEOT 3008 drivers fully enjoy the dynamic capabilities of this SUV. All the functions can be switched on and off at will using the 'Vehicle parameters' menu.

Active Safety Brake and Distance Alert
The Distance Alert function (collision warning) warns the driver when the vehicle is about to collide with the vehicle in front or a pedestrian.

Active Safety Brake (emergency brake assist) comes into play if the driver does not react quickly enough to the warning by applying the brakes without any action from the driver, thus avoiding a collision or reducing its severity by lowering vehicle speed. The system detects vehicles which are travelling in the same direction or stationary as well as pedestrians on the road (bicycles, motorcycles, animals and other objects on the carriageway are not detected).

Active Safety Brake operates if:

  • Vehicle speed is between 5km/h and 140km/h when a moving vehicle is detected;
  • Vehicle speed does not exceed 80km/h when a stationary vehicle is detected.

Vehicle speed must not exceed 60km/h when a pedestrian is detected.

(Active) Lane Departure Warning
Lane Departure Warning is a system using camera recognition of continuous or broken road marking lines to detect when the vehicle accidentally crosses them, triggering visual and audible warnings if the vehicle goes off course when driver concentration lapses at speeds over 80km/h.

Between 65 and 180km/h Active Lane Departure Warning also corrects the vehicle's course by progressively applying opposite steering lock when it determines the vehicle is likely to stray over a lane-marking line, keeping the 3008 SUV in its original lane.

The correction can be overridden by holding the steering wheel firmly (for instance during an avoidance manoeuvre) if the driver wishes to stay on the current path. The correction will also be halted if the direction indicator is activated.

Driver Attention Warning
The new 3008 is fitted as standard with Driving Time Warning which sounds a warning chime and gives a message encouraging drivers to take a break if the system detects more than two hours of continuous driving at speeds above 65km/h.

Alongside this function is Driver Attention Warning which monitors the state of alertness of the driver by analysing any deviations from the path between road markings by using a camera fitted at the top of the windscreen to track the vehicle's course. If a deviation is detected the system can trigger a variety of audible and visual warnings.

Automatic adaptive headlamp main beam
A camera fitted at the top of the windscreen monitors light sources and automatically switches between main and dipped beam according to lighting and traffic conditions.

Speed Limit recognition and recommendation
The camera fitted at the top of the windscreen can also detect and read speed limit and de-restriction signs, displaying them on the instrument panel. The system also uses speed limit information taken from the navigation system mapping. (Individual speed limits, such as those for heavy vehicles, are not displayed). This feature is fitted as standard.

Speed recommendation also features on this device. By pressing the 'MEM' button on the cruise control/speed limiter control, drivers can alter the vehicle speed setting to that read by the camera.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop Function
The vehicle is fitted with a radar unit at the centre of the front bumper. It has a 150-metre range. Between 30 and 180km/h, the Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop Function has two functions:

  • To automatically maintain the vehicle speed set by the driver and;
  • To automatically keep the pre-set distance from the vehicle in front there are three pre-set levels: distant, normal and close).

The system detects any vehicle ahead and travelling in the same direction, automatically adjusting vehicle speed to that of the vehicle in front by using engine braking and the main brakes (which activates the brake lights) to maintain a constant following distance, even when the followed vehicle comes to a complete stop.

Active Blind-spot Monitoring
This system operates between 12km/h and 140km/h and warns drivers of other vehicles in their vehicle's blind spots and whether or not they present any potential danger. The warning takes the form of a tell-tale lamp that lights up in the door mirror on the relevant side, whenever another vehicle (car, truck or motorcycle) is detected.

The system works in conjunction with the Active Lane Departure Warning system. As well as the tell-tale lamp in the door mirror on the relevant side lighting up, a path correction will be felt if a lane marking is crossed with the direction indicator activated, helping to avoid a possible collision.

Visiopark 1 and 2
The vehicle is fitted with 180° video cameras at the back (Visiopark 1) and at the front (Visiopark 2), showing the area surrounding the 3008 SUV and displaying the image on the central touch screen.

The parking aid sensors add further information by projecting the view from above the vehicle in real time as it manoeuvres, giving a full 360-degree view showing all nearby obstacles and helping to accurately position the vehicle when parking.

Park Assist
Using side-facing ultrasonic sensors installed in the front and rear bumpers, this system provides active parking assistance by identifying a parking space suitable for the size of the vehicle and controlling the steering to park the vehicle in the space.

The driver controls acceleration, braking and gear selection and during both the entry and exit phases the system gives visual and audible signals to the driver for manoeuvring the vehicle safely. Manual control of the steering can be resumed at any time by simply gripping the steering wheel.

Park Assist can manage parallel parking (entry and exit) and perpendicular parking.
