• Audi is committed to contributing $1 million over the next five years to bring Sydney Children’s Hospital Discovery Centre to life
  • Audi Foundation Discovery Centre to provide welcome distraction and educational play-space for children and families at Randwick hospital facility

Zetland, 19. September 2024 – The Audi Foundation, dedicated to fuelling progressive approaches to medical technology and treatment, is proud to announce a new partnership with the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation (SCHF). This collaboration aims to enhance the hospital experience for sick children and their families through the creation of a specially designed Discovery Centre at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick redevelopment.

The Discovery Centre, which will carry the Audi Foundation name, is envisioned as a fun, interactive, and educational play zone for young patients, their siblings, and families. Designed intentionally and creatively, the centre will offer an interactive educational environment that promotes learning through hands-on experiences – room for kids to be kids. This facility will provide a welcome distraction from the pressures of medical treatment, allowing children to explore the worlds of clinical health and science in a child-friendly, playful setting.

Jeff Mannering, Chairman of the Audi Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “The Audi Foundation is proud to partner with Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation in realising this important new addition to the Randwick hospital facility.”

“The new Discovery Centre will play an important role in the hospital experience as well as helping to alleviate the pressures associated with ongoing medical treatment for those most vulnerable among us and their families.”

The Audi Foundation will contribute $1 million over the next five years to bring the Discovery Centre to life, making a significant impact on the medical care of young people and their families. The centre is expected to be fully operational by late 2025.

With the population of children aged up to 15 years in New South Wales projected to increase by 28% to more than 1.74 million by 2031, the demand for paediatric services is growing. Each year, over 150,000 sick or injured children are cared for by the dedicated team of health professionals across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network. The ongoing investment in new buildings at the Randwick and Westmead facilities will also see a greater emphasis on collaboration between clinicians and researchers, fostering a ‘true bench to bedside model’.

Since its inception in 2017, the Audi Foundation has actively supported not-for-profit organisations with a proven record in their respective areas, with medical research and care forming one of its key pillars. The new partnership with SCHF and the Discovery Centre represents another step in delivering tangible benefits to countless families and their sick children, building on the Audi Foundation’s commitment to improving the lives of those in the communities where the brand operates.

The Audi Foundation is currently running its second fundraising raffle for the year, offering extraordinary prizes to two lucky winners. Ticket holders and the Audi dealer network support the Foundation year on year, and will contribute to this initiative and the Audi Foundation’s efforts in making a difference.
