Australia, November 16, 2018 – Hailed as a triumph of automotive design, the original A7 Sportback drew accolades from design experts across the world, including the judges of the 2011 Australian International Design Awards.
The all-new second-generation A7 Sportback extends the unique concept of a stylish coupe that also affords practical versatility in a contemporary interpretation of a Gran Turismo. The new A7 represents the perfect marriage of benchmark technology, outstanding driving dynamics and the highest levels of appointment.
Launching exclusively with the 55 TFSI engines until 2019, new A7 Sportback will bring considerably more equipment than its predecessor, with up to $10,000 worth of additional customer value.
"The new Audi A7 Sportback is incredibly well-positioned in its segment," said Shawn Ticehurst, Product Planning & Pricing Director at Audi Australia.
"Value in this flagship luxury segment is just as important as anywhere else in the premium market, and so we are delighted to be launching this extraordinary vehicle with such a compelling offer.
"The new A7 Sportback is better than ever to drive, it has a remarkable contemporary presence and it's now packed with an incredible level of features. It really is a celebration of the best of Audi design and technology right now."
Undoubtedly a study in sophistication, the new A7 Sportback boasts more aggressive styling than its predecessor. The wider three-dimensional Singleframe grille accentuates the width of the car, flanked by HD Matrix LED headlights with their own distinctive light signature. Large air intakes on each side of the grille increase the front-end's powerful stance, which is mirrored in muscular guards, a nod to the brand's quattro DNA.
The A7 Sportback's long, sweeping silhouette is reminiscent of a sports coupe, the powerful domed bonnet design mirrored in the shape of the roofline as it sweeps down through the C-pillars to meet the tornado lines in a wide, elegant rear end, accentuated by integrated tail lights running the full width of the car.
The same feeling of clean sweeping lines and elegance carries on into the A7 Sportback's stunning interior, which has been completely redesigned.
The new MMI touch response operating concept forms a central theme within the A7 Sportback. The dual touchscreens (10.1- and 8.6-inch) are seamlessly integrated into the dashboard design, doing away with the need for myriad individual controls, yet providing fingertip control of all vehicle and convenience functions. Complete with haptic and acoustic feedback as well as handwriting recognition, the operating concept brings 'human feel' to this state-of-the-art technology, while voice control that interprets and acts upon natural speech commands adds yet another dimension to user interface .
Later in 2019, the new A7 Sportback will be available with the choice of two top-of-the-range drivetrains, a petrol and diesel, as well as a third four-cylinder engine. The powerful 55 TFSI 3.0-litre V6 produces 250kW and 500Nm of torque. The 50 TDI 3.0-litre V6 develops 210kW and 600Nm of torque, driving through an 8-speed tiptronic transmission. The 2.0-litre , four-cylinder 45 TFSI model produces 180kW of power and 370Nm of torque. The two TFSI engines are mated to the 7-speed S tronic transmission with efficient quattro ultra drivetrain technology, while the TDI engine is matched perfectly to the 8-speed combined tiptronic transmission quattro drivetrain with a centre differential.
Delivering fuel savings of up to 0.7 litres per 100km, the new mild-hybrid technology, employs a belt alternator starter (BAS) and a compact lithium-ion battery with a 10 Ah electrical capacity, that allows the A7 Sportback to coast at speeds between 55 and 160km/h with the engine off. This new 48-volt system (V6 engines) functions as the car's main electrical system and allows power recuperation of up to 12kW plus start-stop operation from 22km/h.
With quattro all-wheel drive and progressive steering as standard across the range, the A7 Sportback delivers grip and handling to match its performance, while the standard adaptive suspension's settings provide a cushioned ride or firmer, dynamic feel depending on the conditions and the driving style.
As you would expect, the all-new Audi A7 Sportback boasts the highest levels of safety equipment and driver assistance systems as standard equipment, including:
