Leading global manufacturer of butt welding equipment, Worldpoly, has selected Narva to supply all lighting in its revolutionary new Australian-made PolyForce500 models.
Butt welding machines are used in Australia and globally to join lengths of HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipe, for a variety of construction, gas, mining, water, agricultural and other applications.
The PolyForce500 range is capable of joining pipes of up to 500mm diameter and Worldpoly has machines catering for pipe diameters ranging from 40mm to 3600mm.
The process involves using the machine's hydraulic clamps to secure the ends of each pipe while a heating plate is applied to the ends. When the correct temperature is reached the hydraulic clamps butt both ends together under force, holding them in position while the bonding process takes place to ensure a high quality seal.
The nature of the environments in which butt welding machines are used will often see them operating in remote and demanding locations from early morning to late at night, which is one of the reasons why Worldpoly exclusively specified the durable Narva equipment on its latest models.
Included in the new machines are two Narva Explora 14" single row L.E.D light bars, four Model 8 L.E.D white marker lamps, a Hi Optics L.E.D rotating beacon and a HDRV Surface Mount Dual USB socket.
Worldpoly Managing Director, Rob Hall, said the company had used Narva products on several other models and that the equipment had stood up well to the rigours of a tough life in the field.
"The new PolyForce500 range represents the very latest technology and innovations in butt welding equipment, so in selecting lighting for the new models we needed a high quality product," Rob said. "Our customers are making a large investment when purchasing a PolyForce500 unit and we can't afford to be let down by any component of the machine, including lighting. Narva has an excellent reputation in Australia for its reliability and the quality of its light output and given our previous experience with the brand, the company was our preferred option for this latest range," he said.
The Explora light bars, which feature 12 x 5W high power L.E.Ds (5700°K) producing 1 LUX at 275m, are installed at each end of the machine, their compact design providing Worldpoly's engineering team with many fitment options. As an added bonus, the bars are rated to IP68 and IP69K for dust and water ingress.
The IP66 and IP68-rated Model 8 L.E.D marker lamps are again divided evenly between back and front and deliver more subtle lighting within the immediate work area.
For safety and added visibility on site, the SAE Class 1 L.E.D rotating beacon provides plenty of warning that the PolyForce500 is in use.
These machines also feature a Narva HDRV Dual USB socket, allowing mobile phones and other devices to be conveniently charged in the field and this is a small luxury that wasn't previously available on such machines.
The first PolyForce500 machines are already hard at work with customers in Northern Queensland with several others now in the manufacturing cycle, all featuring quality Narva equipment.
