Hot off the back of the first pictures of Great Wall Motor's (GWM) next generation "adventure" and 500km range EV Ute, GWM have released its first interior pictures of the "urban" ute destined for global markets including Australia and New Zealand.
Mr. Bill Soo, ANZ Marketing Manager for GWM says "The next generation ute has been developed to meet consumer expectations of high levels of interior comfort, serious off-road capabilities and be a multi-purpose family vehicle".
MOVING ON UP
The up-market interiors are a new design direction for GWM by combining the quality, refinement and comfort of premium family SUVs with the off-road and load carrying capabilities of trucks.
The family orientated "urban" model is designed to create an intimate driving environment with the use of monotone surrounds and contrasting jacquard texture seats and door inserts.
The design of driver instrumentation cluster is simple and concise and is set within a leather, deep-dish steering wheel with a compact airbag housing. The central 9" touchscreen operates voice recognition, infotainment, electronic dipstick and the climate control system. The new ute will also feature push button start, mobile phone interconnection and remote vehicle start function.
ZF TRANMISSION
On the "urban" model, GWM have adopted the German engineered ZF 8-speed auto with four driving modes: Auto, Economy, Sport and 4 Low and an electric/auto park brake system. The new gearshift is a short throw, shiftless Park system as seen on European vehicles and the HAVAL H9.
The next-gen GWM ute will be officially unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show on the 16th April.
Note: "Urban" specifications for Australia and New Zealand have yet to be finalised and trim colours and specifications may vary from the Chinese model.
