• Iconic mid-engined supercar
  • Last of the series 25th Anniversary edition
  • One of a handful in Australia

For any car enthusiast who grew up in the 1970s or 1980s, Lamborghini's stunning Countach remains the ultimate pin-up Italian supercar of a generation.

And with Lamborghini set to reintroduce the hallowed nameplate on a new high performance model at this year's Pebble Beach Concours in California, what better time to invest in one of the last of the original Countach coupes that is one of the stars of Shannons timed online Spring auction from August 31-September 7.

Powered by a 5167cc 48-valve version of Lamborghini's quad-cam V12 and finished in classic Italian racing red, complemented by a contrasting white leather interior with matching red piping, the 25th Anniversary Countach was the fastest of all Countach models built, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds on the way to a top speed of nearly 300 km/h.

The factory right-hand drive car left Lamborghini's Sant'Agata Bolognese factory in early 1990. It was delivered to a UK customer, but subsequently found its way to Australia, where it joined a prominent collection based in NSW before passing to the current Sydney owner almost four years ago.

Countach production was ramped up under Chrysler's ownership from 1987 and the 25th Anniversary model sold strongly as a result, with 657 produced in just three years, many snapped up by a new generation of supercar collectors and investors.

Professionally stored and now showing 32,279km on the odometer, the car is supplied with an extensive history file and is expected to sell in the $490,000 - $550,000 range.
