Mazda's flagship vehicles have scored consecutive wins in the 2017 carsales Car of the Year Awards, with the CX-9 awarded Best SUV under $50,000 and the Mazda6 taking out Best Family Car over $30,000.

Having taken out the 2016 carsales Car of the Year Award, the CX-9 maintains its reputation for class-leading performance, style and dynamics, following an August 2017 update.

Mike Sinclair, carsales Editor in Chief, said the CX-9 is a deserving winner that continues to impress judges.

"Last year's carsales Car of the Year, the CX-9 was freshened for 2017 and is just as impressive 12 months down the track," said Mr Sinclair.

The win for the Mazda6 marks its third consecutive victory in the Best Family Car over $30,000 category, praised for its refinement, varied offering and performance.

"Mazda 6 has a stranglehold on this category, and with a starting price of just below $32,500, it offers real choice in terms of trim levels and powertrain," said Mr Sinclair.

"The range's flagship shames some luxury marques' mid-sizers in terms of refinement and competence."
